Nurture - Children

Sylvania United Church of Christ's Children's Ministry seeks:

to offer the opportunity to all who walk through our doors,
to know the scriptures,
to become articulate about faith,
and to see more clearly the relationship between God, the gospel, and our world.

With the direction and support of our Board of Children's Ministries, Sylvania UCC provides educational opportunities for all ages on Sunday mornings.

Children's Worship is available during the later worship service (10:40 September-May, 10:00 in the summer). The children remain in the regular service until after the Message for the Whole Family of God. Then they go to the downstairs classrooms for their own classes. We have three classes: preschool/kindergarten, grades 1-3 and grades 4-5.

Our Sunday School classes occur during our 9:30 educational hour. Starting with the 2017 school year, we will begin the education hour with all ages (preschool through Grade 5), let by Janet Hildebrandt and Jenny Morgan. After the opening story, the children will break into smaller, age-appropriate groups to "dive deeper" into the story. The group will meet on the lower level in the newly remodeled "Cove." Teachers will be ready for drop-off as early as 9:20 so that parents can attend adult education classes

Children are invited to bring up their offerings when they come up for the Message for the Whole Family of God during worship. The children's offering is designated to various community, world and church needs. On the fourth Sunday of each month, the children help with the Noisy Offering, and offering that benefits the Feed Your Neighbor program in Toledo.
